ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF women's soccer alumna Morgan Ferrara has been nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year award. The former forward is one of 10 American Athletic Conference candidates in consideration for the honor.

Ferrara is in the running with a record 581 female college athletes representing multiple sports across NCAA Divisions I, II and III.

From here, The American will select two nominees to continue on in the award selection process. In August, the Woman of the Year selection committee will select the top 10 honorees in each division from this pool to be recognized. In September, the selection committee will announce the top nine finalists (three from each division), and the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will vote from among those finalists to determine the 2018 Woman of the Year.

The Top 30 honorees will be celebrated and the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the annual award ceremony Oct. 28 in Indianapolis.

Ferrara, the 2018 American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, is one of three soccer players representing The American for 2017-18. Leading the Knights with 13 goals in 2018, she moved into second on the single season game-winning goals list with six. The Tampa native finished her career with nine game-winning goals, tied for ninth all-time at UCF.

A two-time all-conference selection, she helped the Knights clinch the 2017 American Athletic Conference regular season title and made a pair of NCAA appearances during her tenure with the Black and Gold. Ferrara also served as UCF's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) president for 2017-18.
