ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF Athletics and 2008-09 Conference USA Coach of the Year Joi Williams have come to terms on a new four-year contract that will keep her at the helm of the Knights' women's basketball program through the 2012-13 season, Director of Athletics Keith Tribble announced Monday.

"I am very pleased to ensure that Joi Williams will be the UCF women's basketball coach through 2013," said Keith Tribble. "It was important for our university and our athletics department that Joi would continue to lead our program in the coming years. She has excelled in leading every area of our basketball program over the past two seasons and has guided our student-athletes to success both on and off the court. With Joi at the helm, the future of UCF women's basketball is bright."

UCF is coming off a memorable 2008-09 season which saw the Knights earn the third NCAA Tournament berth in program history. In just her second season leading the program, Williams guided one of the nation's youngest teams to four wins in four days to claim the C-USA tournament title.

After her team was the preseason pick to finish last in the league standings, Williams engineered an impressive turnaround as the Knights went 11-5 in conference play and tied for second in the league standings. Her peers took notice as Williams was voted the C-USA Coach of the Year on March 4.

"I am excited and honored to remain the head coach at UCF for at least the next four seasons," said Williams. "Thanks to the tremendous support from President John Hitt, Director of Athletics Keith Tribble and the university community, our program has made significant strides in the past two years. With talented groups of student-athletes returning to and joining our team, we are optimistic about the future growth and potential of UCF women's basketball.

"As much as anything, this contract is a reflection of the hard work of our outstanding staff and student-athletes," Williams continued. "I am grateful for their dedication and commitment to our program."

Williams was named the 11th head coach in UCF women's basketball history on March 29, 2007. The Jacksonville native came to Orlando after four years as the head coach at Murray State.
