|Position:||Director of Sports Science|
Dr. Michael Redd was appointed as the founding Director of Sport Science for the UCF Athletics Association in February 2019.
In Fall of 2018, the Sports and Exercise Science Initiative was signed and created a partnership between UCF Athletics and the UCF School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy, to enhance the well-being and performance of the university’s student-athletes.
Redd is currently a faculty lecturer in the College of Health Professions and Sciences at UCF. He received his PhD in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Central Florida under Dr. Jeffrey Stout and Dr. David Fukuda. Redd's role as Director of Sport Science allows him to work with the university’s Sports Performance coaches in athlete monitoring as well as program design. He has worked in athletics as both a sport coach and a strength and conditioning coach for over 20 years. In addition to coordinating the university’s resources for athlete assessment, he is currently working on developing appropriate monitoring protocols for the student-athletes at UCF.
