Dr. Eric A. Wood was announced as the Knights' Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services on March 16, 2016. He was promoted to Deputy Athletics Director for Competitive Excellence in the summer of 2017.
Wood serves as sport administrator for men's basketball and men's and women's tennis. He has administrative oversight of the Knights' Sports Performance department, the internal administrators group, head coaches' meetings, Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) and Sr. Staff.
A 2009 graduate of the NCAA's Leadership Institute, Wood came to UCF after a 7-year stint at The University of Arkansas where he began as Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development and was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services in 2011. In his final role, he was a member of the Razorbacks' Executive Staff overseeing a staff of 30 in the Office of Student-Athlete Services. Wood added sport administrator duties and Deputy Title IX Coordinator duties in 2014. He was named Top 40 under 40 in the Arkansas Business Journal in 2016.
Wood is a 1998 graduate of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., earning his degree in Psychology. He was a three-year starter at cornerback for the Pioneer football team with one outdoor season as a member of the track & field team. Wood earned the Medal of Merit, the athletic department's highest honor, as the student-athlete of the year his senior year. He completed his master's degree in counseling and guidance services at Clemson University in May 2000 and his Doctorate of Education in Sports Management at the University of Arkansas in 2016.
Dr. Wood and his wife Celia have four children - Eliana (7), Nia (5), Alyssa (3) and Elijah (1).
