ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 16 UCF women’s soccer team tallied a 2-0 victory over Wyoming on Thursday evening in an exhibition match at the UCF Soccer Complex.
“Tonight was really fun,” head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. “Getting the (win) always feels really good. Everyone performed really well.”
Inclement weather delayed the start of the match by an hour and a half, but not even rain could deter the Knights. In the second of three 30-minute periods, UCF pushed out to a 1-0 advantage thanks to a pair of newcomers. Freshman Asia Ervin found junior Konya Plummer, who recorded her first goal as a Knight.
Just four minutes later, UCF struck again as freshman Darya Rajaee’s corner kick found the feet of freshman Mathilde Kack. The rookie doubled the Black and Gold edge for the final 2-0 tally.
In all, 21 members of the squad saw action in the victory, including all three of UCF’s goalkeepers.
The UCF offense held a 17-4 edge in shots, while the UCF defense limited the Cowgirls to just a pair of shots on goal.
UCF will host conclude exhibition action on Sunday as the Knights travel to Jacksonville for a noon matchup against North Florida. The 2018 campaign officially begins on Aug. 19 when the Black and Gold welcome FGCU to the UCF Soccer Complex for a 6 p.m. match.
