The UCF offensive line was one of the best in the nation a season ago, and the Knights return three all-conference starters from that group in 2019. Led by all-conference honorees center Jordan Johnson, tackle Jake Brown and guard Cole Schneider, the offensive line helped lead UCF to new program records in rushing yardage, rushing yards per game, rushing touchdowns and rushing yards per carry.
Defensive line is a position group that UCF has lost a lot of talent off following the 2018 season, as starting seniors from a year ago Joey Connors, Titus Davis and A.J. Wooten have moved on. Oh yeah, and Trysten Hill was also selected in the second round of the NFL Draft, going to the Dallas Cowboys. There are some big shoes to fill, but the Knights bring back a good group of returning linemen to go with a large crop of newcomers looking to make an immediate impact.
UCF returns both of its starting wide receivers in 2019, as junior Gabriel Davis and redshirt junior Tre Nixon return to the fold. They both played in all 13 games in UCF's successful 2018 campaign, combining for a total of 25 starts. The duo sport an impressive combination of strength, speed, athleticism and precision, showcased by 1,377 yards and 11 touchdowns on 93 catches a year ago.
Last season, the UCF running backs helped lead the Knights to a new program record with 3,448 rushing yards on the season. It topped the previous record of 3,287 set in 2007, a team led by All-American Kevin Smith.
"A Day in the Life of a Recruit" will be the theme of the annual UCF football Ladies Knight Out event scheduled for Thursday, July 25.
UCF's Sami Kincaid takes a trip through Sea World with the Knights football freshmen and Coach Heupel.
